((A/N: This was written for Flipside's contest Kiss Scene. It's the first time I've written a kiss scene and I'm quite fond of how it came out.))

“Why?!” she cried out as tears streamed down her face. The red ember cracked in the fire place as it gave off an eerie glow making shadows long and her tears sparkle as they fell from her eyes. “Why?!” she cried out again as she backed away from him. She could always trust him, atleast that’s what he had made her believe.

“I…I had no choice…” he answered feebly. He knew, deep down, that was just an excuse. He really didn’t know why. He didn’t know why he had decided to betray her and hand her in. He knew her story, and she was innocent.

“You always have a choice!” she screamed at him as she swatted his arms away as he made a vain attempt to comfort her. “Always!” she screamed as he finally fought his way and enveloped her in an embrace that held so much desire. Desire to erase his mistakes and start again, but no one can change history.

“What’s done is done…” his voice trailed off as he made his attempt to apologize. “If I could change it I would, but I can’t.”

“Why…?” she whispered, her voice laced with desperation and hurt. “Why did you betray me?” she asked as tears flowed freely from her beautiful green eyes. “What did I do to deserve it?”

He pulled back slightly as he wiped her tear stained cheeks with his thumbs. “Nothing…” he replied as he leaned down and gently brushed his lips on hers giving her a kiss. The kiss was sweet and gentle and full of love. But her mind would have none of his lies anymore.

She put her hands on his chest and roughly pushed him away. “Get the hell away from me!” she hissed dangerously. “I thought I could trust you!” she yelled as she became blinded by anger. He was slightly surprised but still held onto her arms as she struggled to get free. “Let go of me!” she cried shaking her head in disbelief.

He forced her into his arms as he whispered into her ear. “I’m sorry.” He whispered it over and over again. He felt her begin to relax in his arms as her angry yells turned to grief stricken sobs.

“You…” she began as sobs racked her body. “you promised. You said you’d never hurt me…” she managed to get out.

He didn’t know what to say to that. He had promised her, but the promise he didn’t keep. He leaned down once again and kissed her forehead and then her lips as he felt no resistance. He kissed her while wiping her tears away with his thumbs.

He pulled away with eyes full of sorrow and regret. “I’m sorry…” he said truly meaning it. For the first time in his life he said those words truthfully.

“Sorry won’t prove my innocence.” She whispered as she looked up at him, her eyes red and puffy. There was a sudden pounding on the door as their heads whipped to stare at the door. “Goodbye…” she told him mournfully as she watched the door slam open and three men rushed in and took her away.
